Aims

As an institution committed to the promotion and growth of research into brain science, the Department of Neurosciences of the Universiti Sains Malaysia is an ideal platform for this journal of basic and translational neuroscience in the Southeast Asia (SEA). Orient Neuron Nexus (ONN) is a non-profit. semi-annual online journal, edited, produced and based at the Department of Neurosciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Access is free and not subject to registration. No hard copy edition is available, but readers may print out articles for personal use or free distribution for no commercial use.

As a peer-reviewed journal, ONN's uniqueness lies in its inception as a regional promotion of dissemination of transdisciplinary work by jobbing basic and clinical neuroscientists in the SEA countries and to enable this initiative to grow and demonstrate competitive scholarly leadership in the field of basic and translational neuroscience. ONN is currently unclassified and aims to gain momentum for indexed recognition over time.

This journal believes that many of our counterparts in SEA region strive to achieve and/or sustain comparable standards with world-class centres of excellence for research in basic and translational neuroscience. In the existing competitive market, having a journal associated with such a common drive would serve as a supportive vehicle to disseminate and stimulate innovation and new thinking, and to orchestrate the future of exciting neuroscience research partnerships amongst neuroscientists in SEA countries.

ONN serves as a basic neuroscience fraternity within the SEA region and wishes to assist both basic and clinical neuroscientists in the region with an alliance for translational neuroscience through representatives of other supporting disciplines.

It is therefore ONN prime aims to cultivate shared interests, specific expertise and built trust as the ingredient to promote dynamic future prospect of collaborations between neuroscience laboratories and neuroscientists in this blooming biosphere of SEA region, and beyond.

Scope

ONN draws original manuscripts in the range of disciplines covered by the terms 'Basic Neuroscience' and 'Clinical/Translational Neuroscience', including but not limited to: neuroanatomy, neuroepidemiology, neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, neuroendocrinology, neurogenetics, neuroimmunology, behavioural neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, systems neuroscience, computational neuroscience, molecular neuroscience, neurology, neuropsychology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, psychology, linguistics and biotechnology.

ONN invites scholars, academicians, scientists, researchers, practitioners and students to submit manuscripts. ONN welcomes review articles, original research communications, letters/notes from SEA region as well as minireviews (exclusive to graduate students) and book reviews for publication.
